Yesterday I received a replacement back for my iphone and (much to Daniél’s disappointment) dove into the project immediatly. 2 hours (and many tools) later I am feeling way over my head. I mean seriously “0″ size Phillips head….?! All 13 of them. At a certain point my only point of refuge was thinking that 3G iPhones are coming out in 11 days and they’re only $200. But still I trialed onward. When I finally snapped it back together I was extremely surprised that all the buttons worked. But alas I am typing this very blog on a fully functional iPhone.
Only minor issue is the headphone jack. The main problem with my phone (pre-surgery) was a dent that intruded on the headphone jack (also a huge gap allowing dust dirt etc). The jack now looks fine and will allow a headphone with some difficulty. Apparently one of the ’0′ size screw may have been a bit cockeyed. Oh well. Not much of a headphone user anyway. At least now it looks good enough to sell and replace with a 3G!
