In case you’ve been wondering where I’ve been I am on vacation visiting family in Kansas City. Oddly (or not), this means I have been busier than normal. Lots of folks to catch up with.
In the midst I learn that the Music Exchange is selling off the massive stock of 250,000 lps for $1 each. I think at one time it was the biggest record store in the midwest. I used to shop there years ago when you could’t find anything less that $10 and good stuff was $30+. LOTS of music. The owner, Ron Rooks, passed away last year after apparently choking on a carrot. The irony to those who knew Ron is that he dealt with Hep. C and drink & drug addiction for many years (decades). That something so seemingly benign as a carrot could take him out is hard to imagine.
Anyway, the pic is the 2nd floor. Downstairs was another room of the size and quantity. I scoured for a couple hours until my friend Heather dragged me away. I left with 8 lps. Nothing super extraordinary. I left a lot I initially picked up. Facing that many records kind of brought me face to face with how bad this sickness could get.

wow! I can’t believe you were able to walk away with 8!! A quarter million records at a dollar a piece is scary. What a twisted thing to do to people like us…
